If you follow us on Instagram you know we are much further along on the house than this blog will show. It is because of this house progress that the blog is so behind. However, with kids back in school I hope to fill the breach soon.

As seen on Instagram, I am happily painting away on our DIY ship lap a nice soft white in the majority of the house and a light blue in my girls' room. Aviary Blue by Sherwin Williams fit the requests of both girls for blue walls and mine to allow the one windowed room to be bright without keeping them up a night. One request, by four year old Emmy, was for "Light Blue wall with Light Blue Sparkles" was tougher for me to agree to until I did a little Pinterest research and found Valspar Paint Crystals. These little packets of silver crystals are added to wet paint and then rolled onto walls but pack a punch that is just right for both mother and kids. The crystals were a cinch to apply, I poured them into my paint for the second coat of paint and rolled them onto one wall. When the wall was dry I wiped it with a wet rag to clear off the haze. The wall catches the light and looks like fairy dust. My girls are in love and so am I. You can see the sparkle in the video below.
