I am currently planning the outdoor lighting for our beekeeper's bungalow with a vengeance. Lighting is a passion of mine and I am really excited to be able to plan from start all the lighting for our small house. It is a challenge but I can not imagine how hair raising it might be if the house were any larger.

I have already shared the style of lights that i have chosen as our porch lights. These will provide a broad light on each side of our porch to illuminate the space and doors. These bright lights will feel very welcoming and be great for providing enough light for entertaining. My budget for outdoor lighting is less than $750 for all 3 porches and all walkways and driveway coverage.

I am also incorporating some hidden rope style lights under our porch railing for general lighting that is not too bright to enjoy the evening and to keep bugs at a minimum. These lights will be used alone mostly when guests are not expected and we want to relax without a great deal of bright light. This type pf light will work well to illuminate the traffic areas. Coupled with the porch lights above the rope lighting will appear brighter and give a cheery brilliance that will work well for parties. This level of brightness will put kids at ease and will keep the party going for a long time.

Spotlights will also be installed to provide extra lighting on our walkways and some great trees we will be planting in the yard. I remember walking often along the alleyways of my former neighborhood and admiring the spotlighting of trees and landscaping in several of my neighbors' yards and now I want to recreate in my own yard. These solar powered spotlight have great ratings and I don't have to plan where I will run the power or place them according to the length of their cords. These lights will work well with our other lights to give a good subdued coverage to walk areas and great bright spot lighting to some interesting areas of our garden.

We are prepping for our electrical, plumbing and framing inspection now. The only hold up is waiting for our temp. power to be hooked up so we can run and test our well pump which will provide water to fill our plumbing system so the pressure and joins can be tested. Stayed tuned!
