While this project is still in progress, I wanted to go ahead and finish up the house plans to share ahead of our completion. This project has been languishing on my AutoCAD desktop for some time and it needed to be shared before I nit-picked it to death. A person can only change the lighting plan so many times! Here she is in all her glory: The Modified Beekeeper's Bungalow. This home is based on the beloved original by THE small HOUSE CATALOG. I can't remember where I first saw this house but it was love at first sight. It had everything we could need in a house we could build ourselves. A good sized kitchen, storage, a place for kids, guests and parents, porches (and porches!) and lots of windows. I could tell it was well designed and it looked beautiful.

However, as all things go, we started with just a few small changes: "Oh we'll just move this bedroom door out of the kitchen. I don't want the kids walking right into the room when I'm cooking" to "I'm just going to make the kitchen stretch down a little more for some extra counter space" to "Let's raise the walls a bit upstairs for some added storage space". Changes turn into a slippery slope but luckily our start date put paid to most of the changes though some had to be made in the field when issues arose. I feel like we have stayed true to the original look and feel of the house while adding 258 Sq. Ft, 6" in Width, 1 bathroom, 1 exterior door and some porches. It complements our rural lot well in North Georgia and it has been a LOT of fun to build.

*I want to thank Shawn of THE small HOUSE CATALOG for sharing the original Beekeeper house plan, letting me share my changes no problem and for answering all of my questions.
